Get Keira Knightley’s Wedding Look

In last week’s post, we mentioned Keira Knightley’s choice of wedding dress. While much of the focus has been on whether she did or didn’t wear the same dress she had worn while at a party with her ex, many brides are also wondering how to get the fabulous and fun look.

The key to Keira’s wedding day look was the relaxed feel. She and husband James Righton chose a very small, laid back wedding. Her dress fit this wedding style perfectly.

Short Wedding Dresses

Short wedding dresses are great for the summer, and are the perfect choice if you’re having a relaxed or smaller wedding. They might not suit a grand cathedral ceremony, but are perfect for a beach wedding or a backyard gathering. It’s the right look for a fun bride who is ready to party.

If you’re looking for a short wedding dress, come by Beverly Hills Bridal Exchange. We have a great selection of designer wedding dresses at great prices.

Black Dress, Recycled Dress: Celebrity Brides’ Wedding Gown Choices

The celebrity wedding season is upon us and this week has seen Keira Knightley and Shenae Grimes both say their “I dos.” The two celebrity brides have something else in common — their truly unique wedding gown choices.

Shenae Grimes and Josh Beech

Shenae married her new husband, Josh Beech, in a small ceremony in England. For her big day she wore a stunning Vera Wang dress that was chosen straight out of the designer’s Fall 2012 collection. The element that made it stand out? It was black! From what we’ve read, it was perfect for Shenae and Josh’s non-traditional day, though!

Keira Knightley and James Righton

When Keira married James Righton last weekend in France, she stuck to her pre-wedding promise of a small wedding. With only 11 guests at the ceremony, she certainly kept things low-key. This also went for her dress. By all appearances, she wore the same short blush tulle dress she had worn to a 2008 BAFTA party. The recycled Rodarte was paired with a Chanel jacket, ballet flats, and Ray-Ban Wayfarers.

These two celebrity brides just go to show that choosing your wedding dress is really a matter of what you love. Whether you want to wear a short and flirty dress suitable for a party, or an elegant black and blush gown, it’s your day.

We’re always happy to help Southern California brides find their perfect wedding dress choice. Get in touch to find out more about what we offer.

Hairstyle Matters When Trying On Your Wedding Dress

Think you can just throw your hair back in a ponytail and get the best idea of what your wedding dress will look like? Think again. How you wear your hair can make a big difference when you are trying on your wedding dress.

Trying on Your Wedding Dress -- Hairstyle Matters

  • Style: Are you going to have an updo or let your hair flow on your wedding day? You don’t need to have it styled exactly when you try on dresses, but wearing it up or down will change how you view the neckline of the gowns you try on.
  • Color: Considering a dramatic change for your big day? Do it before you try on your dress (or come with a wig). Hair color can make a big difference to your overall coloring, which will effect whether you go for white, ivory, or a different color.
  • Not sure: If you don’t know how you’re going to wear your hair, bring some clips and hairbands so you can look at yourself with hair up and down with each dress. You might be surprised at the difference it makes!
Whatever hairstyle you’ll be wearing on your big day, it’s important to have a great selection of dresses when you go shopping for your wedding gown. That’s why your first stop should be Beverly Hills Bridal Exchange! Give us a call or come by our Corona store

Silver Accents Big Wedding Dress Trend for Spring 2014

The Spring 2014 Bridal runway shows have been full of gorgeous gowns by some of the top wedding designers. The shows are also a great way to get a sneak peek at next year’s big wedding dress trends. One that’s really standing out already is silver accents.

Bridal Spring 2014

While a few designers have included silver gowns in their collections, most are adding the metallic tone as a detail touch for white dresses. The color is showing up in a variety of ways, but it’s looking like embroidery, beading, and sequins are the favorites.

Silver details are a great way to add a bit of bling, but can also be a very elegant addition to a dress. For some designers, the result has been very dramatic, with the aim of looking like shards of glass or mirror. Either way, it can really ensure that all eyes will be on the bride!

If you’re a Southern California bride to be looking for the perfect gown for your wedding and want to talk silver, give us a call! We have lots of gorgeous wedding dresses on offer at great prices.

The top five tips no-one ever tell brides-to-be about?

You read the books, the blogs and even the magazines and you think to yourself you know everything. In all probability your best friends and your mum (people who might have been through this) will be by your side. What can go wrong when buying a dress. This article will look at five tips no bride-to-be should now know about.

First things first…

That dream dress will look different with the right kind of underwear. That’s right, you might feel frumpy or a bit overweight but some special underwear help will make you look absolutely perfect in that dress.

Get prepared… wedding dresses are heavy things. Old knights used to eat a hardy banquet to get enough carbs into their bodies before they rode off into action. Perhaps this could be your approach as trying on 10 different dresses will be both emotionally and physically draining!

Don’t be scared, think discount! You’re not being a cheapskate here just being prudent in these uncertain financial times. So always ask the store assistant and (more importantly) the manager for daily or seasonal discounts.

Read the small print. If you’re going to get a tailored dress make sure you understand the store’s terms and conditions – this means delivery, size and alterations. This way any issues can be dealt with in time.

If you need help and support the Beverly Hills Bridal Exchange is the right place to go to help you find the right dress for the right wedding.

3 Reasons to Choose a Colored Wedding Dress

If you look at celebrity brides or catwalk shows, colored wedding dress are this year’s biggest bridal trend. If this isn’t enough of a reason for you to make the leap, here are a few more reasons to choose a colored wedding dress.

Colored Wedding Dresses

  1. Stand out from the crowd: A colored wedding dress is something that will set you apart from so many other brides. It can be a way for you to be even more certain that none of your friends will wear the same dress down the aisle.
  2. More choice: Branching out beyond white and ivory can give you tons more choices. You don’t need to go into jewel tones, either. Try looking at gold and other metallic for a more subtle twist on the traditional gowns.
  3. Look better: A lot of brides just don’t look great in white. It’s not the most flattering color for many skin tones, and it can be difficult to find the right shade of ivory to make you look your best. Instead, a colored wedding dress can be an easy way to make you look even more beautiful.

To find out more about finding the perfect wedding dress – whatever color you choose – get in touch with us or come by our Corona shop today!

5 Things to Know About Finding Your Wedding Dress

If you’re getting ready to shop for your wedding dress, check out these tips before you go.

wedding dress

  1. Know your budget. This is one of the most important parts of buying your dress, and can save you a lot of time and heartache.
  2. Don’t get caught up on sizes. Bridal dress sizes aren’t the same as your normal dress size, and you’ll be measured to get the right size. It’s important it fits, not that it’s a smaller size.
  3. Wear light undergarments. You don’t need to bring the exact set you’ll wear on your wedding day, but wearing something a similar color will help you get a better idea of how dresses will look.
  4. Give yourself enough time. In most cases, you’ll need to leave yourself a year to find and order your wedding dress. At the very least, you’ll need to ensure you have enough time for several fittings.
  5. Go with your gut. Try on a variety of dresses, and listen to what your bridal consultant and friends say, but when you find the dress you love, you’ll know.
Of course, the first step to finding a great dress is to visit a great bridal shop. Give us a call or stop by our Corona boutique to see what we have on offer.

If you’ve been to a bridal shower, there’s a good chance you’ve experienced the toilet paper dress. Crafting a gown out of the white stuff is good fun, but it’s also a way to get $2,000 towards your dream wedding dress.

2012 Toilet Paper Dress Contest Winner

The ninth annual Cheap Chic Weddings Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest was launched this week. Sponsored by Charmin, the winner will get $2,000 towards their non-toilet paper dress, and second and third place dress designers will get $1,000 and $500, respectively.

To enter the contest, you’ll need to make a creative effort that involves nothing but Charmin, tape, glue, and/or thread. The gown will need to be able to be worn, put on, and taken off. Creativity and uniqueness are encouraged in efforts.

You’ll have to submit photos of your creation by May 10, and the panel of judges will narrow it down to the top 10 designs. From there, the winner will be chosen by a public vote, with the top three designs going on display in New York.

Wedding Looks for Baseball Fans

We love baseball, and so do many couples. Whether you’re an Angels fan or a Dodgers fan, there are plenty of ways to work your favorite team into your wedding look. Here are some ideas for wedding looks for baseball fans:

Wedding Looks for Baseball Fans

  • The wedding colors can reflect your favorite team. This can give you the chance to add some team memorabilia to your venue decorations, as well as your wedding party’s attire.
  • After the ceremony, you can change into team jerseys. Having words like “Just Married” or “Mr. and Mrs.” can give them a wedding touch.
  • Brides can wear a sash in her team’s colors. This is a great addition to a white dress. For the even more devoted fan, a team logo can be embroidered at the sash ends, giving a bit of team spirit to your train.
  • Of course, if you live and breathe baseball, you might even go so far as a baseball cap as part of your wedding attire. While this might not be right for a more traditional wedding, it can add a bit of lighthearted fun to a relaxed wedding, or to a reception.
